airtime! offers music creators and performing artists the opportunity to broadcast their (new) work/ project (on air) to the audiences of our partner radio stations in Switzerland.
New Stage/airtime - Artist Features on Swiss Radio
With this radio series, Südkulturfonds and the partnering Swiss radio stations seek to ensure the continuation of intercontinental exchange despite the coronavirus containment measures. The aim is to commission selected cutting-edge cultural productions from other locations and share them with Swiss audiences. Selected applicants will receive a grant to cover the production costs of their proposed project.
Who can apply
Artists or art collectives in the areas of music and sound, who are based and work in one of the ODA recipient countries. Priority is given to emerging artists.
Benefits for the artist
airtime! will support a total of ten artists who will be commissioned to produce a project to be featured in special broadcasts by our five partner Swiss radio stations.
A permalink will be provided which can be shared on social media after the event.
Successful applicants will be chosen by a jury of radio professionals and will receive a grant to cover the production costs of their proposed project. The grants range from 1'000 CHF to 2'000 CHF.
If successful, you will be contacted by one of our partner radio stations to create an one-hour long radio programme. The programme includes an in-depth interview (in English) which one of the partner radios will conduct and an audio performance.
Recipients of the grant will be required to develop and submit their final project within two months. The project should not exceed the duration of 50 minutes. Music projects in all sound/music formats are eligible.

When is the first episode on air?
The radio series launches on the 13th February, 2022 which is World Radio Day, with an introduction to the project. The ten created radio programmes will be broadcast from March to December 2022.
